CURBSIDE INHOUSE

Always wanted to recycle, but live in an apartment complex? The Blue Star Arts Complex is part of the City of San Antonio's pilot recycling program for residential rental communities. An on-site recycling compactor allows residents to contribute glass, aluminum cans, food cans, newspapers, junk mail, cardboard and other plastics. The program, which started in the summer of 2008, will take place for six months. In the meantime, most local apartment dwellers will just have to continue driving to drop-off locations throughout the city, which can be found here. SS

FUN, NO BULL
Maybe bullriding and country music shows aren't your thing. But don't be too quick to write off attending the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo this year. If you haven’t witnessed boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 7 riding on sheep, all in the name of reaching those six seconds of to glory, you’re missing out on a serious cultural experience.

Mutton bustin, the crowd favorite that pits up tyke against tyke in a little friendly competition, involves children riding sheep like bullriders. Before you dial up People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals or Child Protective Services, there is a weight limit for the children, who are equipped in helmets for protection and get a real kick out of being cheered on by thousands. Prizes abound, including souvenir trophies and the widely coveted belt buckle that goes to the top rider. The competition is featured during every rodeo show, excluding finals. Still can't wrap your brain around it? YouTube it. SS
